This year we cut down our own tree in a tree lot, well I didn't realize how much smaller they look outside. When we got our tree home it filled our whole living room (which isn't tiny). So we ended up moving our kitchen table out and we put the tree in its place. But oh how we love our tree.

We were fortunate enough to have Tye's family come for Christmas this year. We couldn't be happier to be right where we are in our lives. Over the past year so many new people have came into our lives. They each played different roles, but each are so very dear to my heart. I feel so blessed to have a Heavenly Father who loves me and watches over me. The power of prayer is real, he hears you. It is such a difficult thing being away from you companion and best friend, leave alone worrying and wondering about their safety.

LETTER TO A MILITARY SPOUSE:
While I have never had the pleasure of meeting you or your husband, I felt the need to write you and express a very deep feeling that I have in my heart.

I, as a person, am not brave. I do not tackle things head on, as I hate confrontation. I will travel 100 miles out of my way just to avoid a conflict. I am an American woman that has no idea what is going on in the military other than what I hear on the news.

I have never had to let go of someone so that they could go fight for people that they didn't know, people that sometimes do not appreciate or understand what they are fighting for.

I have never had a sleepless night of worry because of a report that another bomb has exploded and I still haven't heard from my husband.
I have never had to wait for months on end to hold the one that I loved so.
I have never had to tell my children that daddy wasn't coming home tonight because he was so far away fighting for something that they aren't yet old enough to understand.

I have never had to hold my head high and suppress the tears as I hear that it will be at least another six months of separation before my loved one gets to come home.

I have never had to deal with a holiday away from the one that I thought I would share every day of my life with.

And I have never had to feel the panic rising in my heart at the sound of a ringing phone or knock at the door for fear that it is the news that everyone is terrified of getting.

For the reasons listed above, I can not tell you that I understand how you feel. I can not tell you that you must be strong. I can not say that you shouldn't be angry, because you "knew what you were getting into when you married a military man". I can not say these things because I have never had to walk in your shoes.

What I can say for certain is that because of your unselfish acts of bravery and your husbands willingness to stand up for those who see him as "just another soldier" - - I will never have to walk in your shoes.

I do understand that as a military wife you are expected to uphold a certain amount of control, but I never understood how you could do it, until now. I have figured out that you are not like other women. You are of a special breed. You have a strength within you that holds life together in the darkest of hours, a strength of which I will never possess. The faith you have is what makes you stand out in a crowd; it makes you glow with emotion and swell with pride at the mention of The United States of America.

You are a special lady, a wonderful partner and a glorious American.

I have more respect for your husband than I could ever tell you, but until recently I never thought much about those that the soldier leaves at home during deployment.

Until this moment I could never put into words exactly what America meant to me.

Until this moment, I had no real reason to.... Until I heard of you.

Your husband and his military family hold this nation close, safe from those who wish to hurt us...but you and those like you are the backbone of the American family. You keep the wheels in motion and the hearts alive while most would just break completely down. Military families make this nation what it is today.

You give us all hope and you emit a warming light at the end of a long dark tunnel.

Because of you and your family...I am able to be me. I am able to have my family. I am able to walk free in this great land. Because of you and your family, I can look ahead to the future with the knowledge that life is going to be okay. Because of you and your family, I can awake to a new day, everyday.

I realize that you are a stronger person than I will ever be because of these things and I just wanted to take the time today to say thank you to you and your family for allowing me that freedom.

I will never be able to repay this debt to you, as it is unmatchable. However, I hope that you know that no matter where you are...what you are doing...what has happened today...or what will happen tomorrow...Your husband will NEVER be "just another soldier" to me.... And you, dear sweet lady, will never be forgotten.

You are all in my prayer's everyday and I pray that God will bring you back together with your loved one safely.

May God Bless You!

(Author Unknown)

It is so crazy to me, that sometimes in our we don't understand our trials, and why things happen the way they do. Until one day we look back and realize the opportunities those hardest moments and darkest hours open up in our lives. As I look back at what Tye and I have gone through, and thank our Heavenly Father for those trials and where they have gotten us today. I know that if Tye had not had the these specific trials in his life, he wouldn't have been in certain situations to share, to be an example to people who may of never opened their hearts to just the simple knowledge of a Father in Heaven who loves them. Although I know that it has been extremely difficult for Tye, his mission is different than others. I am so proud of him, and even in his hardest moments he opens his heart to our loving Heavenly Father and is able to bless so many. God has a plan for each of us, and individual plan. Sometimes our missions are not clear, but if we cling to our Father in Heaven we will be able to make it through anything placed in our way.

Introducing...........

Baby Giles #2

This little bundle of joy is scheduled to arrive Sept. 23, 2010. We are really excited for this little one to join our family. Although we've been wanting another baby for awhile, we were suprised that it finally happened. Our Heavenly Father has his own timing and it truly couldn't be better timing. Even though I have been sick it has really helped all of us have something exciting to keep our minds off of missing each other so much. Oaklee is soo excited to be a BIG SISTER! Ever since she saw an episode of Calliou she has been wanting soo bad to be a big brother. We had to convince her that she couldn't be a big brother but she could however be a big sister. I had a feeling that something wasn't quite right the day after Tye left. I didn't know when I would be able to talk to him again so I went to the store and hesitantly bought a pregnancy test. (I didn't want to jinx anything.) After finally getting to talk to Tye I hurried and took the test, just in case I needed to tell Tye the news. When a positive popped up, I hurried and sent him a picture of the test. He was in TOTAL shock, but so happy. (He is way more baby hungry than me!) We decided we would wait to tell everyone, however.... in the mist of all this Oaklee walks into the bathroom and started asking a lot of questions, so we told her, and that it was a secret. She was soo excited. Later on that night my brother Adam missed Oak so he asked if she could come over. When he and his girlfriend brought her back he gave me that look... like he knew. If you tell Adam so juicy new you know he is going to have the hardest time keeping his mouth shut. Then after pulling him aside he tells me what Oaklee had told him. She said "Adam I have a secret, but you can't tell nobody, you can't tell grandma, papa, Cindy (the dog) Koda (adams dog), well you can tell Cindy and Koda. She then proceeded, My mom peeed on that thermometer and it says, My mommy is having a baby." So then after Adam left I ask her in a very sweet tone, Oaklee did you tell anyone our secret? She says very confidently "Yes, I told Adam and Ashley. Then as my expression turned stern, she covers my face and say in a very reasuring voice "No, mommy its Ok it is there secret too." I couldn't be mad at that poor little three year old. After that she did really well at not telling anyone, until she came to me and said, "Mommy, I don't want it to be a secret anymore." So we decided together to tell everyone. Meanwhile little did I know that Tye, bless his heart, had called is Grandma and Grandpa Giles first thing, and let them know. They are so proud to be great-grandparents again. We are so happy and feel so blessed to be able to be parents to this precious lil one, and the wonderful little girl already in our lives.

Well, I know an update is long overdue, but what can I say our lives have been CRAZY. I finished my finals right before my sister's came for Christmas. Thanks Tye for being patient with me as the cleaning and laundry went undone. But the good news is that I got 3 A's and a B! Not bad for my first semester back. Then as I previously mentioned my three sisters came into town for Christmas, and I loved it. This holiday season brought so much joy, and I am so very thankful for the time that I was able to spend with those I love most. After my family left we went and spent some time up at the cabin with Tye's family. We had so much fun going snowmobiling as a family (Oaklee loved it!) Then when we got home it was time to start packing to move out of our house. As Tye was preparing to leave we tried to spend as much time as possible together. I really do appreciate this special time together. Tye is such a special loving person. He is so caring for Oaklee and I, and I'm so proud of him and all that he is working to accomplish. Tye left for Ft. Benning last monday, and we miss him so much! In the short 5 min phone calls he says he is doing well. I hope that I can talk to him soon because we miss him sooo much. Now that Tye is gone, Oaklee and I are staying with my parents...and I'm not going to lie, I love it! This semester I decided to not go to school, and spend some quality time with Oaklee as her daddy is gone, and I don't regret it at all. I love that little girl so much! She is growing up so fast and I know I will never get this time back with her. Although I do hope to finish school, there is no hurry, it can wait, unfortunately
Oaklee growing up won't slow down or wait until im ready. I am so greatful that my husband is able to provide the opportunity to be at home and be a mom and a wife, really this is my ultimate dream job!!

*ABRA KA DABRA*

Last night Tye and I thought it would be funny to crawl under Oaklee's bed and scare her. Then the paln evolved into a better idea. While I was hiding under the bed, Tye told her that her wand was magic and made her bed move. So everytime she would say the magic words her bed would rise. Then we would get her out of the room and hurry and switch places so she could show me. She never caught on to it. We told her that like cinderella the magic would only last so long. Later she was in her room for like 20 min just yelling with so much frustration ABRA KA "BRAGRA." Then this morning she tried it once asnd it didn't work and she got the saddest look on her face.
<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v11.nonxt8.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D920de61dc60150b3%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1330403234%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D359A59EF51027597935E495AD09EA846101FE782.6AC85A3C3B769467D70FB940E6E6A8F53C4FED52%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D920de61dc60150b3%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DqQi51s2tgr0JeUzKWW7XNdVkCic&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />

Pumkins Pumkins Everywhere Pumpkins

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_evYTMw7TpUw/SupN5IUM9NI/AAAAAAAAAC0/ckTiPlTf_DM/s320/pumkins+from+papa.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398212747237061842" />
Well for Halloween Tye and I decieded that we would get festive and carve pumpkins. As for our most exciting update...... Tye joined the Army! We are so excited for this... We just felt as if we needed something new and out of the box. I am so proud of him to choose to serve his country. He will be leaving for boot camp late October. Oaklee and I will stay here for now. I will be attending school for a semester. Then in February we will join him wherever we are stationed. It is going to be so fun to travel and live in new places. It gives us adventure, Freedom, and stability. As of now he is in for three and a half years. After that we will decide if we want to stay in longer or choose another path.

Oaklee and I just got back from Nauvoo where my grandparents are serving a mission. It was such a great time...mostly because I was able to spend time with some of my favorite people..... my SISTERS! I am so blessed to have three of the greatest sisters. Each one of them has such a special place in my heart. They each teach me to be a better person in one way or another. They are some of the very few people in your life where they can say anthing to you but you will still love them and they will return the favor. It is hard to be so spred out, as each of us live in different states. Our first night we arrived we got in a marshmellow fight... Char and I kicked butt! It was so funny. But I just wanted to tell them that they are three of the best women I know. I love you guys so much.... I hope there are many more girl trips to come!

It was also great to see my nieces and nephews! We were able to see the Nauvoo pagent. Before the pagent we went to the pre show... a country fair... or as Oaklee would call it "the countrwy bear"

Here are the kids dressed in the outfits we made them.

Well we still have many more things to talk about... but thats it for now. (Make sense?) Well this last weekend it was in Layton and Kim and I decieded to ride together with Oaklee. Oak had been so excited to go, she was ready a week proir. She has also been on a huge baby kick she doesn't go anywhere with out her dolls. She doesn't even bath until she switches out for the water baby. Well anyways before we left the house she realized that she would be going swimming, so she kissed her baby good bye, only in exchange for her water baby that she left at grandmas, that we were going to go pick up. We get on the road and we are about to Pocatello and Oaklee pipes up and say, "mom where is my wata baby?" I said "oh we forgot it at grandmas." Withour even a pause she then says," Kim hurwy tuwn awound go back to pwetty granma's and get my wata baby" We told her it was too far and if we did we would run out of gas. She was so persistant that kim should turn around and get that baby. Me and kim just laughed because she is a 2 year old with a plan!

Ya have to laugh!

Amanda and I were just going through some pictures, and we ran across this one. At first I was going to be the tough guy and follow through with my idle threts. Then I took one look at Oak and I couldn't be angry I had to laugh!

When the parents are away the children will PLAY...

So Tye's parents are out of town.... so naturally we must PARTY.... no j/k we got together and started a band... a rock band! We had so much fun Kal was hilarious... he started out as our singer... then he started making up his own lyrics. "and the wheat grows in the field" Yeah that didn't gain to many fans. Need less to say we are so grateful for family. It is sad to think that alcohol can come between us. But all we can say is here's to an awesome summer and more rock band to come! We love our families so much. Things so far are pretty good. Oaklee won't leave his side. She is such a daddy's girl. Although I have worked the last few days, we are having so much fun being a family again. We have really learned to appreciate the small stuff in life. Like just eating a meal together or sharing a lil tidbit that we read about, and just having a friend and companion to confide in. Tye is so much lighter, he can laugh and joke again.... but more then that there is a glow about him. I am so happy for him because he has decided to go back to "real" school. I love Tye so much and I am so very grateful that he has been freed of this burden. We know its not smooth sailin' but we now have the tools to combat this ugly disease.

We had the absolute most amazing spiritual experience tonight. Tye and I were able to visit the family of Silicia Dion Sovic. For those of you who do not know, this special spirit was taken from this world after a car accident that happened while Tye and his siblings were driving home from lake powell, June 3, 2003. Tye was the driver and he didn't see the red light, and Silicia passed almost immediately.

As Tye has been dealing with the trials in his life, Oaklee had an experience where she felt impressed to tell us about the accident, in which we have never shared with her. Our little two year old shared with us things her little mind could never comprehend. This let Tye know that Silicia was there and needed him to move on with his life. Through all this and many miracles, and prayers, we were able to meet Silicia Family. We feel so very blessed that they would welcome us in there home and tell us about there beautiful girl.

They shared experiences with us of when they felt her presences. They taught us about love forgivness and noticing the little things, and small signs in life. Most of all they gave Tye the gift of forgivness. They shared with us that they feel that her mission here was full filled, and that a new one had begun for her. She was a girl full of life, she never wanted to miss a moment. She was witty and fun loving, just as we always imagined her. When we walked in there home it was full of absolute peace and serenity. Her mom said right off without ever seeing Tye, that he was exactly what she imagined. And they were exactly the type of people we hoped them to be, so loving, understanding, compassionate, forgiving, spiritual and absolutely AMAZING. They know of a surety that Families are Forever! We are here in this life and we don't know why things happen, and we may wonder why us. But we do know this; the lord is in control, he has a greater understanding, he knows best what we need. We have to experience these things to gain knowledge and life lessons, so that we may grow and accomplish each of our own journey's.

We are so humbled by our experience and thank all of you for the prayers!! They have been answered and felt beyond comprehension. We love you and may God Bless You!

Tye and Chanda Giles.

Guardian Angel

Silicia Dion Sovic

8/19/1976 ~ 6/7/2003
Our precious daughter Silicia, age 26, died Saturday, June 7, 2003 due to injuries sustained in an auto accident.

She was born August 19, 1976 in Granada Hills, CA to Michael and Joyce Sovic. I don't know what to expect, nor at the same time I don't expect anything. Expectations can only disappoint you right? I am worried, but I can only have faith! Gosh I think that we pray for things to fall into place and for the right people to be there to help us along our journey. And here Tye is, doing so well and dealing with this major issue that has been weighing on him. A weight that is literally to heavy for him to carry alone, a pure accident. You pray that he will get the right messages, and that the other residents will be able to be a great support. I pray that the staff will have the spirit with them and know how to reach him. And I just don't pray for Tye, my prayers are for Oaklee and my self. I Pray that she will be comforted and be at peace and have joy. I pray for myself that I will work my program that I will have the spirit and receive the message. I think I have so much faith that god will put all these things in place. But then when it comes down to it and Tye is ready to come home where is the faith? Faith in Tye, faith in the program, faith in myself, faith in God? I guess that is where in the Big Book, my favorite slogan is "Let Go, and Let God. I don't have to carry all this, for one most of it I don't have control over, and two its just not mine to carry. Have faith!

As I have sat back in my life these last few weeks I have really been pondering, "do I regret the choices I've made?" As far as getting married so young and to whom now has a disease we can never cure. If we would have waited to have Oaklee would we be better off? Then I soon realized that, NO! Oaklee was not a day to early, nor a minute to soon! I really truly do believe that she was a gift! A gift to me, and a gift to Tye! I really could not even imagine where the two of us would be without her! I know that he timing was absolutely perfect. With out this little angel I know that me and Tye wouldn't have made it together in this journey. Yeah it hasn't been easy but I do have to appreciate and Cherish the lesson that have been learned on the way. God has his own time schedule, he knows what is best for us at every moment in our lives. If it is big or small he knows. And in that we must remember "Have FAITH," and "Let Go, and Let God.

Once again, thank you for your love support and especially prayers! Just by you getting on your knees it shows you have faith, not just in God but in Tye and our family! He truly feels blessed to get a second chance and have this wonderful opportunity. He is pondering and exploring his options for his future.

Oaklee is growing up so fast!! Everyday she makes me laugh. Her favorite song is I am a Child of Gogg, LOL and sings it daily. We told her that daddy is at school and learning lots and lots, so now she doesn't stop talking about when she gets old and gets to go to chool and learn lots and lots! (hopefully not that kind of school)

I am doing very well... through all this I have really learned to humble myself in pray, and turn it all over to the Lord. Even in all this chaos I find peace and joy. It is tough but I can honestly say beacause of my faith I am the happiest i've been in a very long time.

I am working at community care in Idaho Falls a few days a week and I really like the independence it brings and the social interaction. I am hoping to start school either this summer or the fall. I will apply to few different schools in Utah and also BYU I here in Idaho.. so either way I have options.

I just want to tell all of our friends and family thank you for all the prayers and suppot; because we are definately feeling them. I truly believe that Heavenly Father puts the right people in our lives at the right time! Things for the Giles family can only go up from here!

Love always,

Tye Chanda and Oaklee!

Where now?

What a year its been!! We've laughed cried and played. What a good summer it was.. we would spend the hot summer days playing on our backyard playground. Fall and Winter... a little tougher...As I sit back and think of our year I couldnt possibly not ask myself... what would I do with out my little Jelly Bean? Every day I look and that little girl with so much love and adoration... bright eyed and happy. Also when I stare into that little girls eyes guilt ovehelms me, guilt that I can't give her more. No not more material things but more love more reading more playing more learning... but most of all more daddy time.

It is confusing why we go through the things we do... What plan does God have in store for me? What direction do I take... not just for me but for my little girl? At the end of the day nobody knows... All we can do is pray...pray that we are following the Holy Spirit. And that we might know the direction to take to be our very best self!
